Once a month the high school ministry of Parkview serves our community in various tangible ways. Last month we raked leaves of people who would have a difficult time doing that themselves. As we were finishing one house, a student who lived in the neighborhood asked if we could rake the yard of an elderly widow down the street. As the woman who lived there came out of her house wondering why about 10 teenagers were raking her leaves, we were able to tell her about the love of Jesus Christ and that He was the reason we were there that morning! Praise God for students like this who take the command to “Love your neighbor” seriously!

Over the past few weeks of youth group I’ve been super blessed to see middle schoolers bringing friends who haven’t been to church before, who don’t know Jesus, and who don’t fit right in to our church culture. Our middle schoolers are obeying God and reaching out to non-believers and it’s creating a healthy problem for our youth group!

Wanted to share what one girl shared on her application for this summer’s missions trip to Germany: “Jesus Christ is my personal Savior and Lord, and the love of my life. He means so much to me, and I want to follow Him and I strive to follow Him…He has changed the way I view my peers, my faith, and myself. I feel that I can talk to God about anything, and love to spend time in His word. There are definitely ways I can grow in Him, but I strive to keep God #1 in my life.” This is pretty typical of so many students who are going on next summer’s missions trip! So exciting!

A student named Haley recently had an idea about how she could reach out to the underprivileged. She acted on that idea and gathered 7 other students and an adult leader to help her. After church a couple of Sundays ago they went to her house and put together 40 sack lunches complete with a deli meat sandwich, an apple, a snack and a juice box. After putting the lunches together in brown lunch bags, they loaded the lunches into their backpacks, boarded the train for Chicago and proceeded to hand out the lunches to folks who were living on the streets! They came back with great stories, empty backpacks and hearts that were full! The name of her idea? Brown bags for the homeless!

This past Saturday (11/7/2009) I had the privilege of joining one of our CARE Groups as they took the challenge to share their faith. We travelled to the St. Louis Gateway Arch and spent 4 hours initiating faith conversations, praying for people, and giving away Bibles. It was a little slow starting as each of us chose to surrender our fears and step out in obedient faith. However, as the day flew by I enjoyed seeing the middle schoolers break out and really start to think strategically about sharing their faith. In fact, at one point they started initiating conversations with the people they thought most likely to say no! Afterwards we recounted the experiences of the day and figured out that we had significant faith conversations at least 28 different times (usually with multiple people). We gave away 40-50 Bibles, prayed for people who would receive it, and shared the good news about Jesus’ gift for us on the cross! -Daniel ![]() Sharing at the Arch

Last Tuesday night our lesson was about how to share the Gospel. During the course of teaching how to explain the Gospel using Romans 6:23 God reminded me that there are youth in the room who don’t know Jesus as their savior. So, we offered an opportunity for middle schoolers to ask Jesus to forgive their sins. I asked any youth who took the opportunity to come see me afterwards. We had one middle schooler who gave his life to Jesus and another who rededicated her life! Praise God! -Daniel
